I got home from work early today, around noon. I looked at my outdoor thermostat which read nearly 60 degrees. All the dirt roads in the area seemed pretty dry as well as in good shape too. So I decided to get the mountain bike out and go for my very first ride of 2018. After I put air in both tires, got some water and food, I started pedaling down the driveway to begin my journey.
I wasn’t expecting to go too long of a distance since it was the first bike ride of the year for me. But to my surprise, I was able to pedal out a 22 mile bike ride with fuel still left in the tank. I guess all the Bowflex training I did over the winter actually paid off. This is probably because I was able to keep my weight at a reasonable and manageable level. I usually plump out to over 220 pounds during the winter. But this winter, I was able to maintain a weight of 210 and lower all season. That extra 10 pounds might not seem like much but it is.
Here is my Strava activity for today’s ride, the very first one of 2018 (and hopefully many more this spring and summer).
